Zimbabwe and Malawi victims confirmed dead in SA bus crash

Authorities confirmed that the Limpopo bus crash killed 30 Zimbabweans and 6 Malawians among the many 43 victims.

Officers from Zimbabwe and Malawi are collaborating with South African authorities and affected households to determine the victims via fingerprint matching, images, and on-site verification.

Zimbabwe and Malawi households journey to SA for Identification

B-Metro reviews that officers from Zimbabwe and Malawi are collectively overseeing the continuing identification course of alongside South African authorities and the victims’ households.

Civil Safety Unit (CPU) Deputy Director for Response and Coordination, Veronica Naked, stated a delegation is touring to South Africa with family members of the deceased to assist determine the our bodies.

“We’re on our approach to South Africa with family members of the deceased who will assist us within the identification course of. We may even choose up extra relations in Masvingo and Beitbridge,” stated Naked.

Zimbabwe and Malawi to repatriate our bodies

Naked stated Doves Funeral Providers will deal with the repatriation of the victims’ stays as soon as post-mortems and paperwork are full.

“For now, the method of identification is ongoing. Doves Funeral Providers is on standby to gather the our bodies as soon as post-mortems are accomplished. The our bodies shall be transported to their remaining locations,” she stated.

She added that a number of family members have already travelled to Makhado. South African officers are utilizing fingerprint verification techniques and images to determine the victims.

Authorities Aiding Bereaved Households

The Zimbabwean Authorities will actively assist affected households till it lays each sufferer to relaxation.

“To this point, about 15 individuals have come via our Catastrophe Administration Centre and left for South Africa. We mobilised a bus to ferry them, whereas some family members already in South Africa are aiding within the identification course of,” stated the Ministry of Native Authorities spokesperson Gabriel Masvora.

He additionally stated efforts had been underway to assist these with out journey paperwork.

“For these with out journey paperwork, we’re liaising with the Ministry of International Affairs and South African authorities to make sure they’ll cross the border and determine their family members.”
