Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene saved interjecting, “Reclaiming my time. Reclaiming my time.”

Earlier than he exploded, Comer, the committee chair, tried to disregard Frost’s request to subpoena Noem as he led a panel of governors in a dialogue on sanctuary states, so-called as a result of they provide security from deportation to undocumented migrants.

Comer accused Frost of searching for media consideration, the HuffPost reported. And Greene, wanting her flip, tried to seize the highlight.

Many lawmakers on either side of the aisle had been horrified by how Padilla was handled on the Noem press convention.

Senate Minority Chief Chuck Schumer condemned the spectacle on the Senate ground. “I simply noticed one thing that sickened my abdomen — the manhandling of a United States senator. We’d like fast solutions to what the hell went on,” the New York Democrat mentioned, in response to NBC Information.

And California’s different senator, Sen. Adam Schiff wrote a scathing submit on X additionally denouncing Padilla’s remedy above a video displaying the incident.

“The disgraceful and disrespectful conduct of DHS brokers, pushing and shoving him out of a briefing like that, calls for our condemnation. He won’t be silenced or intimidated. His questions will likely be answered. I’m with Alex,” Schiff mentioned.

“It’s horrible. It’s stunning at each stage. It’s not the America I do know,” Alaska Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski mentioned.

California’s Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom mentioned Padilla’s remedy was unfathomable. “Sen. Alex Padilla is without doubt one of the most first rate folks I do know. That is outrageous, dictatorial, and shameful,” Newsom wrote on X. “Trump and his shock troops are uncontrolled. This should finish now,” he added.

Noem and different officers mentioned they’d no concept who Padilla was, although he recognized himself as “Sen. Alex Padilla” earlier than he was forcefully eliminated after attempting to ask Noem a query. Padilla later informed reporters he “was there peacefully,” in response to NBC Information.

“What occurred yesterday was a part of a a lot larger effort to try to silence anybody who dares to query what the Trump administration is doing,” Padilla mentioned in a submit on X.

“However we won’t be intimidated, and we won’t be deterred. We should maintain this administration accountable,” he added.
