Wisconsin GOP votes to cut $32M for state colleges over diversity

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Republican lawmakers voted to chop the College of Wisconsin System’s price range by $32 million on Thursday regardless of a projected record-high $7 billion state price range surplus, leaving the college practically half a billion {dollars} wanting what it requested.

The minimize is available in response to Republican anger over range, fairness and inclusion, or DEI, packages on the system’s 13 universities. Republican leaders have stated the $32 million is what they estimated could be spent on these packages over the following two years.
