Willie Brown, Inglewood Today Publisher, Goes to be with the Lord – Los Angeles Sentinel

The religion and enterprise communities have been saddened to study of the passing of Willie Brown, longtime writer of Inglewood As we speak Newspaper. Based on Kenneth Miller, writer of the South Bay Black Journal, Brown died on June 25 following an emergency go to to Cedars-Sinai Hospital. He was 81 years previous.

His viewing will likely be held on Friday, July 18, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Inglewood Cemetery Mortuary, 3801 West Manchester Blvd., in Inglewood.  A celebration of Brown’s life is about for Saturday, July 19, at 10 a.m., at Golden West Galleria Chapel, 720 East Florence Avenue in Inglewood.

Brown was a robust advocate of Inglewood and was identified for selling the constructive points of the town. 2Urban Ladies reported that he additionally was an enormous supporter of Inglewood Mayor James Butts and Inglewood Councilmember Gloria Grey.

Recalling Brown’s influence, Miller mentioned, “After I returned to Los Angeles after being in Cleveland for 4 years, Willie Brown satisfied me to affix him at Inglewood As we speak as its writer at a time once I was at a contemplating leaving the trade. He trusted me along with his ‘child,’ Inglewood As we speak, whereas mentoring me and was an especially necessary individual in my life. I’ll miss him, and do no matter I’m requested to maintain his legacy alive.”

Providing related feedback, Dr. Gloria Zuurveen, writer of Tempo Information, described Brown as “abandoning a strong legacy of service, storytelling, and group advocacy.”

“Willie’s reward was greater than journalism.  His ever-present smile and heat spirit made him a trusted neighbor and good friend. Week after week, he delivered the information with integrity and pleasure, decided to maintain residents linked, knowledgeable, and empowered,” mentioned Zuurveen.
