Twitter customers have blended feelings about returning to African hair braiders in a world of Instagram hairstylists, poor customer support and expensive deposits.

Person @titibug kicked off the dialog by explaining how returning to African hair braiders has simplified getting her hair completed.

“I began going again to the Africans for braids and ain’t paid a deposit or acquired a ‘hey boo’ textual content since.”

“The frustration from IG stylists and their three web page rule books has swept the nation,” @titibug added in a follow-up tweet. “The women simply need their hair completed & high quality service.”

The Twitter consumer’s observations scored over 1 million views and 27,000 likes because it was shared March 31.

Black girls chimed in to the publish replies and share their experiences with African braiders. Additionally they requested questions on what to anticipate. Fellow Twitter customers responded with useful tips on navigating a visit to an African braiding salon or the the reason why they opted towards it. One individual wished to know if it’s required to point out as much as the salon together with your hair already blow-dried. Others puzzled if patronizing African braiders is sensible for these wanting to maintain their edges and keep headache free.

Elsewhere within the dialog, a number of customers identified how referring to hair braiders from the motherland as “the Africans” is a problematic generalization.

No matter who’s doing all your hair, it’s worthwhile to know your hairstylist as an individual outdoors of them offering a service. Opinions on what to anticipate when going to an African braiding store different — however the dialog reminded many individuals of their choices.
