Based on Trump, U.S. navy strikes killed a number of key figures of ISIS.

The federal government of Somalia’s semi-autonomous Puntland area confirmed that U.S. navy strikes within the Golis Mountains killed a number of “key figures” of the ISIL (ISIS) group. On Feb. 1, Donald Trump took credit score for the strikes, asserting that there have been no civilian casualties, amongst different daring claims.

Based on Al-Jazeera, Trump took to social media to proclaim that these strikes “destroyed the caves they dwell in, and killed many terrorists with out, in any approach, harming civilians.”

He continued, taking a shot at former President Joe Biden, “Our Navy has focused this ISIS Assault Planner for years, however Biden and his cronies wouldn’t act rapidly sufficient to get the job completed. I did! The message to ISIS and all others who would assault People is that ‘WE WILL FIND YOU, AND WE WILL KILL YOU!’”

Based on Protection Secretary Pete Hegseth, the strikes “additional degrades ISIS’s skill to plot and conduct terrorist assaults threatening US residents, our companions, and harmless civilians.”

Based on The Washington Submit, U.S. Africa Command initially corroborated Trump’s claims that no civilians had been killed within the assaults, however that report must be taken with a grain of salt.

Up to now, they’ve made such claims, solely to need to take accountability for civilian deaths after mounting stress from human rights teams and native residents.

Though Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, praised Trump in a press launch, Somali-American journalist Mohamed Gabobe reported in October 2024 that Mohamud’s technique to fight al-Shabab—one other group with way more affect in Somalia than ISIL—was beginning to additional fracture an already divided nation.

Based on Elizabeth Shackleford, a former diplomat who now works on the Chicago Council on International Affairs, if American forces are going to be persistently deployed in Somalia, the parameters must be clearly outlined. “We shouldn’t be actively concerned within the struggle in Somalia with out some type of authorization saying why we’re there, who our enemy is, and what we’re allowed to do. That must be primary, however no person cares,” Shackleford stated.
