Studiocanal Signs Deal With WTFilms to Produce, Distribute Genre Films

After making a U.Okay. style label with Jed Benedict, Studiocanal has solid a partnership with French manufacturing firm WTFilms to concentrate on style movies. Below the deal, Studiocanal might be concerned as a co-producer and distributor on WTFilms initiatives, starting from motion, thriller, science fiction and horror.

The pact, which can run for a minimal interval of two years, underscores Studiocanal’s ambition to extend its presence within the style area. Studiocanal’s manufacturing staff will work along with Benedict on the WTFilms partnership and improvement slate.

Studiocanal beforehand collaborated with WTF on Xavier Gens’ “Farang” which was launched by IFC Movies within the U.S. beneath the title “Mayhem” and had a profitable worldwide roll out.

Studiocanal’s French manufacturing staff François Mergier and Assia Barge, who negotiated the settlement for Studiocanal, mentioned it “continues a relationship we drastically worth and is certainly one of belief and creativity that we want to perpetuate” following their “profitable work collectively on ‘Farang.’”

“The WTFilms groups are specialists of their subject and lovers of style movies, who will carry loads to Studiocanal,” mentioned Mergier and Barge in a press release.

Dimitri Stephanides and Gregory Chambet, WTFilms co-founders, mentioned the success of Farang “bolstered our option to focus our manufacturing initiatives on style, starting from motion to thriller and horror.”

“Since its starting, the DNA of WTFilms has been intently linked to our private style for this cinema,” added the pair. “We’re very enthusiastic in regards to the concept of plowing this furrow with Studiocanal, whose ambitions on this space align with ours and people of many proficient administrators, to provide movies with robust industrial potential each in France and overseas,” Stephanides and Chambet continued.

Earlier this month, Studiocanal introduced a brand new style label devoted to the event, manufacturing and distribution of horror, thriller, sci fi and motion movies and TV sequence, beneath the management of Benedict, a widely known govt who beforehand labored for the U.Okay. distribution banner Elysian Movie Group.
