Ryan Gainer: California teen shot dead by police had autism – report

An legal professional representing the household of a 15-year-old who was fatally shot by a San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputy throughout a confrontation at his residence mentioned the deceased teen had autism. In keeping with KABC, authorities mentioned the teenager, recognized as Ryan Gainer, was shot and killed after he ran in direction of a deputy with a pointy gardening device.

Authorities mentioned deputies responded to Gainer’s Apple Valley residence on Saturday after they obtained a 911 name from his household. His household instructed authorities that he was assaulting his sister and inflicting harm to property at their residence.

The deadly incident was captured on physique digital camera footage. Within the video, Gainer is seen holding the gardening device and approaching a deputy who’s heard saying, “Hey get again! The assertion mentioned a “deadly drive encounter” subsequently occurred and Gainer was shot. Within the wake of the taking pictures, authorities mentioned the deputies “rapidly rendered medical support to Gainer and continued till paramedics arrived.”

Gainer succumbed to his accidents after he was transported to the hospital. The legal professional representing Gainer’s household instructed KABC that the deceased teen was autistic and offered particulars on what brought about the household dispute.

“Ryan is a 15-year-old with autism, and generally with a view to launch stress or if he’s a bit too labored up, he’ll go on a run,” legal professional DeWitt Lacy mentioned. “When he got here again there was a dispute that arose as a result of he wished to play video video games, and he wanted to do his chores, and he began appearing out.”

The 911 audio has since been launched, although it’s unclear if Gainer’s household notified authorities about his well being situation. A neighbor who spoke with the information outlet mentioned the deceased teen had been “battling just a few issues however he was principally child.”

An investigation into the taking pictures has since been launched by the SBSD Specialised Investigations Division.
