State Consultant Ron Reynolds of Texas condemned Harshbarger’s phrases, saying, “I’m deeply outraged—however sadly, not shocked. For a white Republican Congresswoman to go on a so-called Christian podcast and confer with Congressman Inexperienced— a 77-year-old civil rights icon, statesman, and man of God—as ‘boy,’ is not only offensive. It’s racist. Interval.”

Reynolds, a mentor and shut buddy of Inexperienced, continued, “This type of language is rooted in a darkish historical past—a deliberate try to diminish Black males, particularly those that dare to face up and communicate reality to energy.”

Reynolds additionally highlighted the hazard of Harshbarger’s rhetoric, mentioning that such language has traditionally been used to demonize and dehumanize Black males.

“Rep. Harshbarger insinuated that Congressman Inexperienced, who makes use of a cane for medical causes, could be hiding a weapon. Let’s be sincere: that’s not simply disrespectful — it’s harmful,” Reynolds mentioned. “It’s the form of rhetoric that’s gotten Black males killed.”
