Needing little convincing, Otinga utilized for admission into Washburn College in Topeka, KS. To his delight, he was accepted on a scholar visa, arrived in America, studied diligently, and ultimately graduated with a bachelor’s diploma in nursing.

After graduating, Otinga labored at a Kansas hospital for about seven years earlier than shifting to California in 2017 as a touring nurse. It didn’t take a lot for Otinga to fall in love with the Golden State and its individuals, and he determined to make California his dwelling. Right here, he grew to become a U.S. citizen in 2020.

At this time, as a registered nurse at West Los Angeles Medical Heart, Otinga says he’s dwelling his dream in a profession he loves.

As a caring and compassionate nurse, Otinga says he lives by a easy rule when caring for his sufferers. “A pleasant smile has at all times been one of the best ways when interacting with my sufferers,” he defined. “It helps them really feel snug to share with me how they really feel, and it permits us to offer them the most effective care out there.”

Regardless of attaining his life-long dream of being a nurse within the U.S., Otinga has not forgotten his African roots.
