New Miss SA crown makes debut at 2023 finale

The Miss SA Organisation revealed that Miss SA 2023 can be topped with a model new coronet dubbed Mowana, “the tree of life”.

THE NEW MISS SA CROWN: MOWANA

When the Miss SA winner is topped on Sunday 13 August on the SunBet Area, Occasions Sq. in Pretoria, she can be carrying a brand new Miss SA crown. She can be carrying the burden of our heritage and of one of the crucial recognisable symbols of our nation – a tree that signifies life with the Mowana crown.

The Mowana crown is the brainchild of Ursula Pule – artistic director and co-founder of Nungu Diamonds – the sponsor of the brand new Miss SA Crown. Pule, spent a number of years harnessing her abilities in jewelry design, and created memorable items for celebrities resembling Somizi Mhlongo, Connie Ferguson and extra.

“My inspiration got here from a safari we took in Musina in 2019; from the magnificent baobab tree, often known as the Tree of Life. As you drive into Limpopo, you see these beautiful bushes – in contrast to some other bushes – that signify our African heritage,” she mentioned in a press release.

“The subsequent morning, on a recreation drive, I noticed the solar rising behind a baobab and was mesmerised. That was my inspiration and I’ve carried that imaginative and prescient with me all these years. When it was time to design the crown, I assumed that there was nothing higher to signify our nation and our firm Nungu Diamonds,” she continued.

MINIMALISTIC DESIGN

Pule additionally used the African dawn as a metaphor to symbolise the rise of Miss South Africa at first of her reign, signifying thebeginning of her new life as our queen. The design is minimalist and easy to permit the valuable stones to talk for themselves.

“Mowana is the primary crown of its sort in South Africa and is made up of over 800 stones  comprising diamonds, gems and cubic zirconia, the largest weighing 15 carats,” mentioned Kealeboga Pule, CEO and founding father of Nungu Diamonds.
