NBC’s veteran Lester Holt will step down as anchor of the community’s flagship “Nightly Information” broadcast.

Holt, who has been the face of “Nightly Information” for a decade, will stay at NBC. In a word to workers on Feb. 24, he mentioned he could be increasing his work on NBC’s “Dateline,” taking over a full-time position.

The transition is predicted to happen early this summer season. No agency date or successor for “NBC Nightly Information” has been named but.

“After 10 years, 17 should you embody my years on the weekends, the time has come for me to step away from my position as anchor of Nightly Information,” Holt wrote on Feb. 24, whereas thanking colleagues. “A smile involves my face once I assume that with Nightly Information, and Dateline, I’ve now anchored two of probably the most profitable and iconic tv information applications in broadcast historical past.”

Janelle Rodriguez, govt vp of NBC Information Programming, applauded Holt’s legacy at “Nightly Information” and reiterated that the anchor will keep at NBC “for years to return.”

“Fairly merely, Lester is the beating coronary heart of this information group,” Rodriguez wrote.

Holt joined NBC again in 2000. He grew to become the everlasting anchor of “Nightly Information” in June 2015 — after anchoring weekend editions for eight years — and has been the principal anchor of “Dateline” since September 2011, per NBC.
