Mecklenburg County offers COVID and flu vaccines to uninsured

Mecklenburg County Public Well being is providing Covid-19 and flu vaccinations to uninsured residents because the respiratory virus season begins. 

“The temperatures are dropping, and we’ll all be spending extra time indoors with our family members. Let’s all do our half to make our neighborhood safer for these most susceptible to those sicknesses,” Raynard Washington, Mecklenburg County Public Well being director, stated in an announcement. 

Whereas influenza and RSV ranges are low, Public Well being stated the charges are rising throughout the county, with youngsters ages zero to 4  accounting for most RSV emergency room visits. 

Why it issues: County well being officers reported that 385 folks went to hospital emergency division with covid-like sickness between Nov. 15 to twenty-eight. Thirty-four, or 8.8%, had been admitted for remedy.

Mecklenburg Public Well being recommends: 

Frequent hand washing; keep away from touching your face, and canopy your coughs and sneezes

Keep dwelling when sick.

Pregnant girls and oldsters of kids below 2 years ought to ask a healthcare supplier or name Public Well being earlier than getting an RSV vaccination.

Older adults are inspired to test with their native pharmacy or healthcare supplier for the supply of the RSV vaccine.

Southeast Well being Division: 249 Billingsley Highway, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Wednesday 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.  

Valerie C. Woodard Neighborhood Useful resource Middle: 3205 Freedom Drive, Monday via Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. 

Ella B. Scarborough Neighborhood Useful resource Middle: 430 Stitt Highway, Monday via Friday, 8 a.m. to five p.m.
