Presidential hopeful Marianne Williamson drops by the Small Doses with Amanda Seales podcast to make her case on why the American individuals ought to elect her as the subsequent President of the US. The writer and former religious chief shared her ideas on the rise of neofascism, the failures of the Democratic Get together, and reparations.

This would be the second time Williamson has vied for the Democratic nomination for president. She beforehand ran in 2020.

“What I’m saying to the American individuals is the system shouldn’t be delivering to you what you deserve within the richest nation on the earth and what a authorities of the individuals, by the individuals and for the individuals would ship to its individuals—as a result of the federal government has develop into of the firms, by the firms and for the firms,” Williamson says.

Disrupting The Standing Quo

All the time with a wholesome dose of skepticism, host Amanda Seales presses Williamson for concrete examples from her background in grassroots activism and sensible methods that may enable her to enact actual, significant change from the Oval Workplace.

“My qualification shouldn’t be that I understand how to perpetuate [the corrupt American] system … My qualification is that I imagine I may also help disrupt that system. And that’s what I imagine my candidacy represents, is the disruption of that system,” says Williamson.

The Dems Want To Do Higher

Regardless of working for the Democratic nomination, Williamson concedes that the Democratic Get together, beneath the management of the “company elite” Democrats, have failed the American individuals regardless of the social gathering’s progressive rhetoric. And this failure has given rise to neofascism (white nationalist ideologies) that we see throughout the US at the moment.

“I really feel the truth that Democrats haven’t given individuals sufficient over the previous couple of years has helped pave the best way to the rise of neofascism. Massive teams of determined individuals develop into a form of petri dish out of which all types of private, political dysfunction virtually inevitably arises,” says Williamson.

Individuals deserve higher than the” incremental change” that President Biden has provided, Williamson argues, including that the Biden administration missed alternatives to codify abortion rights, voting rights and extra again when the Dems held the bulk in each chambers of Congress.

“It’s not the best way it’s as a result of the state of affairs is difficult, the best way they’d have you ever imagine. It’s the best way it’s as a result of the state of affairs is corrupt,” says Williamson.

Relating to common healthcare, local weather change and a assured dwelling wage, Williamson says her platform is much less about compromise than her fellow institution politicians.

“These are all issues the place the ability of the presidency might have made a distinction … [Biden] additionally mentioned … that he would veto a Medicare For All invoice in the event that they got here to his desk. These are examples the place my habits would merely be the alternative,” she says.

Reparations Is A Key Situation

The presidential hopeful acknowledges the “generational bipolarity” ingrained within the American system for the reason that nation’s inception.

“I believe each era lives out its iteration of that dichotomy between enlightened rules and the way we truly behave. I imply you had 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence—41 of them had been slave house owners. In order that dichotomy between who we’re and who we are saying we’re has all the time been there. And in my view, our era resides out simply the most recent iteration of that bipolarity,” she says.

Reparations are listed amongst Williamson’s key points on her marketing campaign web site.

“I need this nation to restore itself, I need a reset and I need a new starting. We are able to’t have it till we’re prepared to look within the mirror and clear up some issues from the previous,” she says.
