Malawian President Mutharika abolishes school fees nationwide

Malawian President Peter Mutharika has introduced that, beginning January subsequent 12 months, faculty charges for each main and secondary schooling shall be scrapped throughout the nation.

Mutharika abolishes faculty charges nationwide

As reported by Malawi 24, the president confused that schooling stays the cornerstone of nationwide growth.

“No mother or father could have an excuse to not ship their youngsters to high school,” Mutharika mentioned. “Schooling is vital to growth, and we would like self-discipline and exhausting work if Malawi is to maneuver ahead.”

Mutharika additionally thanked Malawians for his or her continued assist and belief throughout the latest basic elections. He pledged that his administration would serve all residents equally, no matter tribe or area.

“I used to be not elected by one tribe, however by all Malawians,” he mentioned. “I’ll assist each Malawian with out contemplating tribal strains. Our blood is identical, regardless of the place we come from.”

Mutharika urged residents to stay affected person as his authorities rolls out measures aimed toward restoring stability.

President Mutharika returns to energy

Mutharika not too long ago returned as Malawian president, marking a shocking political turnaround.

The courts annulled his disputed re-election, ending his first time period, which lasted from 2014 to 2020.

This time, he secured victory with about 56% of the vote, defeating incumbent Lazarus Chakwera, who garnered 33%.

Understanding Malawi schooling

Malawi’s main and secondary schooling system is managed by the Ministry of Schooling, which goals to offer inclusive and equitable studying for all youngsters.

Major schooling lasts eight years.

After finishing main faculty, college students take the Major College Leaving Certificates Examination (PSLCE) to qualify for secondary schooling, which runs for 4 years and ends with the Malawi College Certificates of Schooling (MSCE) exams.

The federal government, alongside growth companions, continues to put money into instructor coaching, classroom infrastructure, and curriculum reform to enhance high quality and entry.
