Louisville’s First Black-Owned Pharmacy Celebrates Grand Opening

Residents dwelling within the traditionally Black neighborhood have a motive to rejoice.

Good Brothers, Louisville’s first Black-owned pharmacy, has formally opened its doorways. Situated within the metropolis’s Russell neighborhood, also called “Louisville’s Harlem,” the pharmacy goals to offer premier companies to residents on this traditionally Black group. 

“Good Brothers Pharmacy is greater than a enterprise; it’s a promise. It’s a promise that we’re going to keep right here perpetually and we’re going to make an influence on the west Louisville group,” Good Brothers’ co-owner, DeShawn King, instructed WLKY Information. 

Dr. Michela Brooks, the pharmacist in cost, mentioned her function is pivotal as a result of pharmacies typically function the primary level of contact for sufferers searching for care.

Childhood buddies Isaiah Jones and Deshawn King, who’re from West Louisville, mentioned they based Good Brothers to serve the group. Jones instructed WAVE Information that by opening the enterprise, he hopes to encourage future generations.  

“I need the children from round Louisville, Kentucky, to know sports activities isn’t the one approach out,” Jones defined. “You will be an entrepreneur and open up something.
