Marion Jean Holley-Burts, beloved spouse, mom, grandmother, godmother, and buddy, lately handed away peacefully surrounded by household. Born in 1947 in Fresno, California, Marion devoted her life to schooling, neighborhood service, and religion.
A celebration of her life was held on Dec. 30 at Grace United Methodist Church in Los Angeles.
Marion labored with the Los Angeles Unified College District as a studying specialist, Starting Trainer Assist Coach, and curriculum developer, however her best pleasure was being within the classroom. She taught at faculties corresponding to Westchester Excessive College and Verbum Dei Excessive College. Marion was instrumental in serving to Jamaican immigrants put together for the California Excessive College Exit Examination by way of workshops at Grace United Methodist Church.
Past the classroom, Marion was a founding member of the Black Girls’s Discussion board, a nonprofit group of over 1,200 African American ladies in Los Angeles. She labored with Congresswoman Maxine Waters and cherished her roles within the NAACP Youth, Prime Teenagers of America, and organizing high-level block events that introduced almost 150 kids collectively. Her ardour for her kids’s accomplishments shone brightly, from attending their college occasions to cheering on basketball state championships.
Marion had a deep love for jazz music, particularly saxophones, and shared each day biblical inspiration with tons of of individuals, faithfully uplifting these round her.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ezunial Burts; her kids, Ezunial “Eze” Burts III and Erin Burts; her daughter-in-law, Teria Burts; granddaughter, Fallyn Birlon Burts; stepson, Michael Hogan; and her cherished godchildren.
“Her life was a mirrored image of grace, resilience, and unwavering religion,” a member of the family mentioned. “She will likely be deeply missed however eternally cherished.”
