‘He’s pathethic’: Trump supporter apologizes for backing President after racist social media post of the Obamas

President Donald Trump kicked off a nationwide firestorm on Thursday (Feb. 5) after a social media publish depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as gorillas shortly went viral. The clip featured superimposed photos of the Obama’s heads on gorillas nodding alongside to “The Lion Sleeps Tonight,” a tune popularized by the 1994 movie, “The Lion King.”

The video spawned bipartisan response, decrying it as racist. White Home Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt initially claimed the response to the video was “pretend backlash” and that the clip was taken out of context, because it depicts Trump because the King of the Jungle, and Democrats had been totally different characters from “The Lion King.” Nevertheless, there aren’t any gorillas in “The Lion King,” and the lone monkey was Rafiki, an advisor to Mufasa and later, Simba.

“That is from an web meme video depicting President Trump because the King of the Jungle and Democrats as characters from the Lion King, “Leavitt stated. “Please cease the pretend outrage and report on one thing right this moment that really issues to the American public.”

Later, the White Home positioned the blame on a rogue staffer, saying the video was posted “erroneously”. It has since been taken down.

The dangerous depiction resonated with one Republican voter, who referred to as into C-SPAN’s “Open Discussion board” to voice his displeasure with the president and his actions.

“I’m a registered Republican,” the person, who recognized himself as Joe from New Mexico, started. “Voted for the president, supported him, however I actually need to apologize. I’m this terrible image of the Obamas. What a humiliation to our nation.”

He added, “All this man does is inform lies. He isn’t worthy of the presidency; he takes bribes, blatantly. And now he’s being a racist, blatantly.”

In three separate elections between 2016 and 2024, Trump has not received New Mexico. No Republican presidential candidate has received the state since George W. Bush in 2004.

Joe then turned his consideration to Trump’s immigration coverage, pointing towards raids of elementary faculties and the actions of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Minneapolis.

“They had been imagined to deport the harmful criminals,” Joe stated. “They weren’t imagined to go after young children, storm faculties, carry terror upon the little youngsters and the ladies and kids. Not simply the immigrants within the college, all the youngsters are scared. This isn’t an honest man, this isn’t an sincere man. He brazenly takes bribes. He’s pathetic as a president and I simply wanna apologize to everybody within the nation for supporting this rotten, rotten man.”

John admitted he voted for Trump in all three elections, on the promise that jobs would return to his space.

“There aren’t any extra jobs in New Mexico,” he stated. “Some issues are worse than they had been earlier than.”
