Helen Zille has bragged about being gifted an iconic Orlando Pirates jersey. The previous DA chief – who’s now gunning for the place of Johannesburg mayor – is a staunch supporter of the Buccaneers.

On her social media platforms, Helen Zille revealed that an previous pal has gifted her a classic Orlando Pirates jersey.
The black-and-white-framed jersey featured the signatures of gamers who had gained the African Cup of Champions Golf equipment [now the CAF Champions League] in 1995.
On the time, the Buccaneers beat the SEC Mimosas of Ivory Coast to clinch the title.
Helen hinted that she would probably promote the Orlando Pirates jersey to lift cash for residents of a nursing house she had visited.
She mentioned: “This can be a very beneficial shirt with all these legendary gamers who then went on to be the backbone of the Bafana Bafana workforce that gained the AFCON (in 1996)”.
LONG TIME BUCS FAN
On social media, Helen Zille has been accused of faking her assist of Orlando Pirates, a declare she has strongly disputed.
The 75-year-old watched the Soweto Derby in March at a Dobsonville pub.
Helen posted pics of her expertise on Fb, which shortly went viral.
The pics have been criticised by Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi, EFF chief Julius Malema and Motion SA’s Michael Beaumont, who claimed Helen had orchestrated a PR stunt on the soccer match.
Beaumont tweeted: “I don’t assume she [Helen Zille] may identify a single participant or present any prior publish demonstrating her assist for Pirates.”
Helen responded by pulling up previous tweets of her longtime assist for the membership.
SOWETO DERBY THIS WEEKEND
In the meantime, Orlando Pirates will meet their long-time rivals, Kaizer Chiefs, at one other Soweto Derby set to happen on Sunday, 26 April on the FNB Stadium.
The match kicks off at 15:00.
