Once I witnessed Baldwin in actual life, after I was in school at Hampton College’s Ogden Corridor, I used to be mesmerized. His highly effective phrases, his commanding presence, and his savoir-faire have been a revelation, a mirrored image of kinds. It’s the understanding when Black homosexual males see each other — clock one another. Nevertheless it was greater than that.”

The title Native Son spoke volumes.“
