Councilmembers Harris-Dawson and Hutt Honor Mothers in the Community – Los Angeles Sentinel

The sunny day was an ideal backdrop for an early celebration to honor and respect the moms who contribute to the betterment of their neighborhoods. On Thursday, Could 11, Councilmembers Heather Hutt and Marqueece Harris-Dawson introduced over 500 moms collectively for an unforgettable afternoon luncheon full of music and laughter.“Gathering as a group to honor and have a good time the unbelievable contributions of moms is a strong reminder of the power and resilience that lies inside us. Once we honor our moms, we honor ourselves. On the luncheon, we witnessed the true essence of South L.A.,” remarked Harris-Dawson.

The luncheon, titled “The Artwork of Motherhood,” honored all people who’re moms or fulfilling a motherly position. The occasion was emceed by comic Speedy and memorable performances got by the Lee Younger Nam Dance Firm, Chris Reza y Los Servidores, the Blue Breeze Band, and J&P Kick ‘N’ Step Dance Group. Pastor Rashod D. Corridor delivered the invocation.

In an effort to achieve out to senior residents in nursing properties who could not have had the chance to have a good time Mom’s Day, the Councilmembers offered buses to a number of nursing properties of their districts to make sure that constituents had secure transportation to and from the occasion. Lots of the seniors expressed appreciation and pleasure to attend the luncheon, particularly these unable to have a good time with relations.

“As we speak, we’re glad to have a good time moms, grandmothers, sisters, aunts, and anybody who feels the position of motherhood,” stated Hutt. “As a single mom of three boys, I do know the work it takes to boost kids. These folks work actually onerous to carry up our subsequent technology and enrich our group, so it’s important that we take the time to assist them and make them really feel particular.”

Based on one attendee, “This event mirrored the heat and positivity that occurs when neighbors come collectively to have a good time and uplift each other and it reveals the profound influence that collective efforts have on constructing stronger, extra linked communities!”
