Community Swearing-In of Sen. Laura Richardson Celebrates Determination, Diversity  – Los Angeles Sentinel

The neighborhood swearing-in of State Sen. Laura Richardson showcased the financial prowess and cultural range of the thirty fifth District throughout a June 7 celebration at The Enclave in Torrance. Native and state dignitaries in attendance included Congresswoman Maxine Waters (forty third Dist.) and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. 

Neighborhood members have been welcomed to the ceremony by a drum circle offered by the Earthlodge Middle for Transformation in Lengthy Seashore. The occasion started with a shade guard from the American Legion Auxiliary, Jackie Robinson Unit 252; an invocation by Pastor Warren G. Henderson, president of the Inglewood Space Ministers Affiliation; and the Pledge of Allegiance led by Jaziel Galindo, treasurer of the Wilmington YMCA Youth and Authorities.

Performances by the Dalisay Filipino American Dance Firm and a Maori haka by Kailua O Kaleo’Onalan enriched this system, together with renditions of up to date sacred music by Leslie Minor—Sen. Richardson’s sister—and Barbara Ashley.

District Director Daysha Austin of the California State Legislature launched Sen. Richardson’s workers and marketing campaign group, and a video presentation highlighted the cities of District 35. Particular remarks by Congresswoman Waters and Mayor Bass preceded the oath of workplace, which was administered by Waters.
