The fascinating and energetic lifetime of Ernestine Butler got here to an in depth on Dec. 29, after 92 years of dedication to God, household and neighborhood.
A celebration of her lengthy life can be held on Friday, Jan. 31, at 10 a.m., at Angelus Funeral Residence, 3875 Crenshaw Blvd., in Los Angeles.
A local of New Orleans, Ernestine was well-known for her devoted involvement in neighborhood affairs. She was a longtime member of the NAACP, the New Frontier Democratic Membership, and the Crimson Hatters Social Membership.
As well as, Ernestine was a frequent contributor to the Mayme A. Clayton Library and Museum and served on the organizing committee of the LaLa -Louisiana to Los Angeles – Membership the place she assisted with producing the annual LaLa Pageant.
In line with her son, Gary Harbour, Ernestine interacted with a number of notable individuals throughout her life.
Harbour stated, “She has the pleasure of assembly or understanding Nelson Mandela, Mayor Tom Bradley, Congresswoman Maxine Waters, Congresswoman Diane Watson, Vice President Kamala Harris, United Farmworkers of America Co-Founder Cesar Chavez, and singer Lou Rawls.”
In preparation for her homegoing, Harbour added, “She insisted {that a} repast occasion be held at her residence after her burial.”
