Dr. Gloria Wade-Gayles, a scholar recognized for her research centering Black ladies in Americana, has died.

Wade-Gayles grew to become a number one voice for interdisciplinary ladies, gender, and Black research, centering her work on this self-discipline. Born in Memphis in 1937, Wade-Gayles endured an upbringing underneath the Jim Crow doctrine of the South.
