Black Press Week galvanizes advocacy, celebrates legacy, and mobilizes voters – AFRO American Newspapers

(NNPA NEWSWIRE) – In a stirring celebration of 197 years of unwavering advocacy, the Nationwide Newspaper Publishers Affiliation (NNPA) convened in Washington, D.C., for Black Press Week to have a good time the March 16, 1827 founding of Freedom’s Journal, the primary Black-owned publication within the U.S. This 12 months’s observance, which featured the NNPA’s annual Board of Administrators assembly and a go to to the White Home, resonated with the theme “Getting Out the Black Vote.”

The NNPA is the commerce affiliation of the greater than 250 African American-owned newspapers and media firms that comprise the Black Press of America.
