Audiences are Crazy About Black British Romcom ‘Rye Lane’

*Critics and UK audiences are wild about “Rye Lane,” a 2023 British romantic comedy-drama movie directed by Raine Allen-Miller starring Vivian Oparah and David Jonsson.

Social media customers are mentioned to be over the moon for the movie as a result of it stars two dark-skin Black leads who fall for one another — a rarity in most present movies and TV sequence. “Rye Lane was such an amazing and quirky rom-com. And with two darkish skinned Black Brit leads? *chef’s kiss*,” one individual tweeted. One other Twitter person famous that they “cherished seeing two dark-skinned black British leads having candy, carefree banter.” 

Oparah mentioned the movie is a love letter to dark-skinned Black characters.

“Rye Lane” has a 97% “licensed recent” ranking on Rotten Tomatoes.
