Freestyle Digital Media, the digital movie distribution division of Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group, has acquired home rights to the critically acclaimed Asian-American household drama “The Harvest.”

“The Harvest,” a semi-finalist in each the CAPE x Black Record and Academy Nicholl Fellowship competitions, tells the story of Thai, who returns to Southern California after years in San Francisco solely to face his estranged household, together with a father battling kidney failure. The narrative explores the complexities of generational trauma, id, and familial bonds inside a standard, male-centered family.

Helmed by director Caylee So, whose earlier work “Within the Lifetime of Music” served as Cambodia’s official Oscar submission, the movie stars author Doua Moua (“Gran Torino,” “Mulan”), alongside Perry Yung (“Warrior,” “The Knick”), Daybreak Ying Yuen (“Forge”), Chrisna Chhor, and Lucas Velazquez (“100 Dias Para Enamorarnos”).

The pageant darling, which world premiered on the Santa Barbara Worldwide Movie Pageant, has constructed momentum via screenings at Outfest Fusion, CAAMFest, and the Minneapolis St. Paul Worldwide Movie Pageant. Its rising trophy shelf consists of the Viewers Award on the Seattle Asian-American Movie Pageant and a Particular Jury Award on the Cambodian Worldwide Movie Pageant, alongside a nomination for the Anti Defamation League Stand Up Award.

“‘The Harvest’ stands as a heartfelt tribute to resilience and the fragile threads of household and id,” mentioned So. “My hope is that audiences will see their very own tales mirrored in ours and really feel uplifted by the power and great thing about our shared humanity.”

Moua, pulling double obligation as each author and star, added: “It’s about what we inherit, the love and the injuries, and the way we make peace with each. There’s a quiet stillness to the ache we stock in households, and my hope is that ‘The Harvest’ resonates with anybody who has ever questioned their place in a household or longed to be seen.”

The movie was produced by John Houselog and Moua, with govt producers together with Yoson An (“Mulan,” “Shadow Power”), Cash Vang, Jaeson Ma, Eric Tu, and Tenten Wei from EST Studios. Freestyle Digital Media negotiated the acquisition with Wei and Sophie Shi of EST Studios.

EST Studios, based in 2022 by Jaeson Ma (“Stampede Ventures,” “88rising”) and Eric Tu (“Vice,” “Nameless Content material”), focuses on bringing Asian tales to worldwide audiences. Their current initiatives embrace the Oscar-shortlisted “Hidden Letters” and the Toronto-selected “Ok-Pops!” directed by eight-time Grammy winner Anderson.Paak. The studio can also be behind “Pabrik Gula,” Indonesia’s highest-grossing movie of 2025, which hits U.S. theaters on April 18.

The acquisition provides to Freestyle Digital Media’s rising catalog of impartial movies, which incorporates “Allswell in New York” starring Emmy winner Liza Colón-Zayas (“The Bear”), “All Pleased Households” with Josh Radnor and Rob Huebel, and “Survive” that includes “Sport of Thrones” star Sophie Turner alongside Corey Hawkins.

“The Harvest” might be accessible to lease or personal on all North American digital HD web, cable, and satellite tv for pc platforms, in addition to on residence video codecs, beginning June 20.
