For the twenty first annual La MaMa Strikes! Dance Pageant, Apr. 9-Might 10, at La MaMa’s Ellen Stewart Theatre and The Downstairs Theatre, and The Membership and Group Arts House, dance artists in any respect phases of their careers will experiment, collaborate, and share new work. Curated by Nicky Paraiso, the competition will embody 12 productions throughout La MaMa’s 4 venues, and as much as 4 in-person group workshops and public discussions. This 12 months’s competition line-up options dancemakers Donald Byrd, Beth Corning with visitor puppeteer Tom Lee, Vangeline, Patricia Hoffbauer, Dancers Limitless, Solar Kim Dance Theatre, Inexperienced Cow, Iver Findlay, BamBam Frost & Ori Flomin, Pioneers Go East Collective, and ms. z tye & Mina Nishimura in a shared night curated by La MaMa Curatorial Residents Martita Abril & Blaze Ferrer, and so March extra. Apr. 2: As a part of the BAAD! Ass Ladies Pageant, in this system titled “Decolonize The Pelvis: A Dialogue,” Awilda Rodríguez-Lora, Priscilla Marrero, and Megan Curet will talk about works rooted in Caribbean traditions. For more information, go to baadbronx.org.

Apr. 10-11: The Kitchen presents Jonathan González: “Swerve Fatigue,” a brand new efficiency work unfolding on the boundaries of dance and sound. González shall be joined by Ananda Naima González, India Lena González, Marguerite Hemmings, Kingsley Ibeneche, AJ Wilmore, and Wayne Arthur Paul, plus sonic practitioners Alexis De La Rosa (Delabae) and GENG PTP. Apr. 10-11: In “Legends & Visionaries (2026)” at Judson Church, New York Theatre Ballet’s spring season will provide works by Antony Tudor, Merce Cunningham, plus world premieres by Julian Donahue and Kevin Iega Jeff. For more information, go to nytb.org.

Apr. 11: Danspace Mission’s “Dialog With out Partitions” returns with Jasmine Hearn, Victoria Lynn Awkward, Myssi Robinson, and Charmaine Warren providing a long-form, roundtable dialogue centered on Black femme dance writing and archiving. For more information, go to danspaceproject.org.

Apr. 12: As a part of the BAAD! Ass Ladies Pageant assortment at BAAD!, comes the student-designed recital led by Maya McGuire (Juilliard), highlighting underrepresented feminine creatives and alluring dialogue round womanhood, illustration, and the longer term. Apr. 14-15: Clark Heart NYC and The American Dance Guild be part of forces to current “The Politics of Motion: When Dance Speaks Out,” on the Theater on the 14th Avenue Y. Eight corporations and choreographers will symbolize generations, aesthetics, and cultural lineages: Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble, Dances We Dance, Francesca Todesco, Catherine Gallant (Dances by Isadora), Anabella Lenzu/DanceDrama, H.T. Apr. 14-19: Choreographers Jamar Roberts, John Heginbotham, Caili Quan, and Melissa Toogood come along with violinist Johnny Gandelsman within the New York premiere of “Johnny Loves Johann” at The Joyce, pairing Johnny’s folk-inspired violin interpretation of Johann Sebastian Bach’s full Cello Suites. Apr. 16-18: A.I.M by Kyle Abraham brings the New York premiere of “Cassette Vol. 1” to NYU Skirball. Abraham “weaves collectively the pop, R&B, and New Wave sounds of his youth, to craft “Cassettee Vol. 1,” which strikes between camp and critique, honoring the influences that formed him,” notes the discharge. Apr. 16-19: Dance Theatre of Harlem returns to New York Metropolis Heart with their tackle the legendary “Firebird,” the basic Russian folks story of affection, however in a Caribbean setting. Apr. 18-19: The Joffrey Live performance Group, NYC, brings again their ICONS Dance Pageant with performances by The Joffrey Live performance Group, Limon2, and BH2 (Ballet Hispanico) on the Ailey Citigroup Theater. Apr. 19: At CPR, “Open AiR” artist Yiseul LeMieux gives a participatory night of efficiency, titled “Die Cute,” that “makes use of cuteness to softly disarm individuals and information them via grief in a method that’s each playful and deeply empathetic,” notes the discharge. Apr. 20-27: The annual E-Strikes Pageant at Harlem Stage returns with a masterclass and dialog with Camille A. Brown, CEO & Inventive Director of Harlem Stage Dr. Indira Etwaroo, rising choreographers Kamani Abu, Derick McKoy Jr., Naia Neal, and Kasey Orava, a screening of “Paris Is Burning” with a post-show dialog, and “Black Males in Dance,” a dialog with Donald Byrd, Robert Battle, and Lil Buck, alongside stay efficiency. Apr. 23-25: Mufutau Yusuf returns to the Irish Arts Heart with “Deadlock,” a duet with
