American Heart Association, NNPA partner for Black health initiative

The American Coronary heart Affiliation (AHA) partnered with the Nationwide Newspaper Publishers Affiliation (NNPA) to current “Altering the Way forward for Well being for Black Communities: Public Well being and Media Symposium,” a digital occasion streamed reside on NNPA’s YouTube channel as a part of Black Historical past Month.

The NNPA is the commerce affiliation representing the greater than 200 African American-owned newspapers and media corporations in the USA, generally generally known as the Black Press of America.

The panel featured distinguished well being professionals, together with Dr. Regina Benjamin, the 18th U.S. surgeon normal and founding father of the Bayou Clinic; Dr. Keith Churchwell, president of the American Coronary heart Affiliation; and Katrina McGhee, AHA’s chief advertising and marketing officer. 

Media figures included Sharí Nycole, co-host at Attain Media; Dr. Benjamin Chavis Jr., NNPA president and CEO; and April Ryan, senior White Home correspondent and Washington Bureau Chief for BlackPressUSA.com. Dr. Churchwell laid out stark statistics highlighting the disproportionate affect of heart problems on Black Individuals.
