9th Annual Indigenous Peoples Day pow wow honors ancestors

The ninth Annual Indigenous Peoples Day pow wow took over Randall’s Island this previous weekend. The three-day competition invitations native and non-native supporters from everywhere in the world to share their traditions via tune, dance, artwork, and prayer, whereas rethinking the impression of Christopher Columbus.

This 12 months, Native American leaders, elders, cultural performers and activists have been joined by indigenous peoples from the Caribbean, Polynesian Islands, and South America for the competition.
