Yusef Salaam, who was wrongly accused within the notorious “Central Park 5” case, has received a seat on the New York Metropolis Council, marking a major comeback a long time after the false rape accusation at age 15.

Salaam triumphed within the ninth District Democratic Main, defeating numerous candidates, together with the incumbent and one endorsed by Mayor Eric Adams. He ran uncontested on Tuesday evening to formally declare the council seat in central Harlem.

Salaam noticed that his victory is a sign of the exoneration of his brothers, noting the ordeal they endured within the legal justice system. He vowed to propel the district past “impartial,” promising to try to unlock its full potential and elevate its residents, based on the Day by day Mail.
