Let me however do my work from each day,
In subject or forest, on the desk or loom,
In roaring market-place or tranquil room;
Let me however discover it in my coronary heart to say,
When vagrant needs beckon me astray,
“That is my work; my blessing, not my doom;
“Of all who reside, I’m the one by whom
“This work can greatest be executed in the suitable means.”
Then shall I see it not too nice, nor small,
To go well with my spirit and to show my powers;
Then shall I cheerful greet the labouring hours,
And cheerful flip, when the lengthy shadows fall
At eventide, to play and love and relaxation,
As a result of I do know for me my work is greatest.
