Black girls who’re a fats, dark-skinned and queer from the Midwest, are actual, our life experiences are actual. The harms in addition to the fun which have occurred to us are actual. As somebody who’s speaking about this from the angle of being impacted by homophobia and fats phobia, it is vital for me to remain alive. So it is not solely in regards to the viewer, however it’s about making my circumstances higher, making my world higher as properly. That is simply such an vital house and time for Black girls, Black femme and black, trans, queer, non binary artists to really be curated in a approach that speaks to the essence within the coronary heart of our work.”
