WinWithBlackWomen Jotaka Eaddy to Receive Renamed NAACP Image Award

WinWithBlackWomen founder and CEO Jotaka Eaddy is about to obtain the newly named Mildred Bond Roxborough on the 56th NAACP Picture Awards Inventive Honors on February 21, in Los Angeles.

The Social Justice Influence Award has been renamed to honor the life and legacy of civil rights activist Mildred Bond Roxborough.

“Jotaka Eaddy’s affect exemplifies the enduring energy of Black girls main with energy, imaginative and prescient and goal. Her tireless advocacy has ignited a long-lasting, generational momentum, equipping the Black group – particularly girls, with the assets, data and freedom to thrive. Her unwavering dedication has not solely paved pathways for progress but in addition impressed a motion that continues to remodel lives and communities,” shared Karen Boykin-Cities, vice chair of the NAACP Board of Administrators and chair of the NAACP Picture Awards Committee.

A former NAACP senior advisor to previous President and CEO Ben Jealous, Eaddy launched #WinWithBlackWomen in 2020, creating an intersectional group composed of Black girls leaders from enterprise, sports activities, motion, politics, leisure, and past.

Working with the NAACP for over 70 years, Roxborough is the longest-serving NAACP employees member.

“The renaming of the Mildred Bond Roxborough Social Justice Influence Award underscores the profound legacy of a trailblazer whose dedication to justice continues to encourage generations.”

Roxborough’s profession started in 1954 as nationwide employees subject secretary. She has served because the group’s administrative assistant to govt director, director of operations, director of packages, director of occasions and director of improvement.

In her many capacities, Roxborough has labored alongside notable civil rights and NAACP leaders, together with Medgar Evers, Myrlie Evers-Williams, Vernon Jordan, Choose Constance Baker Motley and Supreme Courtroom Justice Thurgood Marshall.

Eaddy joins a prestigious roster of earlier Social Justice Influence Award honorees, together with Benjamin Crump, Nikole Hannah-Jones and Stacey Abrams.
