Windsor Historical Society, Connecticut, finally elects its first Black president after 102 years

The Windsor Historic Society in Connecticut is getting nearer to its goal to be extra inclusive after its Board of Administrators elected Randy Mckenney as its first Black president in 102 years.

The Historic Society was based in 1921 to behave because the preeminent historic establishment for the oldest city in Connecticut. By preserving, deciphering, and disseminating the artifacts and tales of the neighborhood, the society seeks to ask individuals to interact with the altering historical past of Windsor.

McKenney, who has lived in Windsor for practically three many years and has been energetic with the Society for 3 years, was chosen to serve a one-year time period, in response to the CT Insider.

The Government Director of the Society, Douglas Shipman, mentioned, “Randy has expressed curiosity in Windsor historical past for a lot of, a few years.” He additionally added that McKenney has presided over plenty of boards, served on the City Council for ten years, and has made vital contributions to racial dialogue in Windsor.
