Nevertheless, Traci Timiko, Watts’ lawyer, stated her shopper was instructed that her fetus “was not viable and couldn’t and wouldn’t survive.”

She miscarried that Friday. She was 22 weeks alongside in her being pregnant on the time. Afterward, she tried to flush the bathroom, nevertheless it overflowed, so she used a bucket to wash up.

Timiko says Watts desperately tried to maintain the being pregnant from her household. She didn’t even need them to know she suffered a miscarriage, so she went to a hair appointment she had scheduled for that day to maintain up appearances.

Nevertheless, moments after she arrived, her hairdresser grew involved and referred to as her mom. Then she was taken to the hospital.

Watts believed she would solely be evaluated and handled at most throughout that go to. She by no means foresaw the hospital calling the police.

WJW obtained a duplicate of a nurse’s 911 name:

“That is the hospital, labor and supply, at St. Joe’s and I want to talk to an officer a couple of case that I’ve right here. She was despatched right here with bleeding on Tuesday and that evening she left, towards medical recommendation. She got here again in on Wednesday nonetheless bleeding and stated, ‘Possibly I do should be seen.’ So we readmitted her and we had been speaking her by means of every thing and she or he disappeared.”

The nurse instructed the dispatcher that Watts instructed hospital workers that she put the fetus within the bucket and left the bucket exterior the house. When police went to Watts’ home, they found the fetus was nonetheless in the bathroom, eliminated the bathroom, and seized it as proof.

It wasn’t till some weeks after that Watts was charged with abuse of a corpse.

“It’s numerous ache, it’s numerous emotion, and she or he was terrified,“ Timko stated of her shopper. “There have been so many issues happening that she was making an attempt to deal with at one time.”

Watts stated she felt a spread of feelings wash over her when she discovered a grand jury determined to cost her.

“Once I was arrested I felt anger, scared, betrayed, confused, nervous,” Watts instructed WJW in a press release. “Each unfavourable emotion you would conjure up within the English language, I felt it.”

Throughout Watts’ preliminary listening to, a forensic pathologist testified that no accidents had been discovered on the fetus and that the fetus died earlier than passing by means of the beginning canal.

Timiko believes her shopper shall be cleared of the cost since no legislation in Ohio dictates a lady should bury or cremate her miscarriage stays.

Warren Police Chief Eric Merkel despatched a quick assertion to WJW about how police carried out their investigation.

“The Warren Police Division acquired a name from the hospital concerning this incident. We investigated it after which consulted with prosecutors within the Warren Municipal Courtroom. They allowed the cost to be filed. The Prosecutor’s Workplace makes the ultimate willpower whether or not or not expenses are filed. A preliminary listening to was held on this case and the Decide decided there was possible trigger to ship this case to the Trumbull County Grand Jury for overview.”

Two metropolis councilmen at the moment are siding with Watts within the matter and wish the police and metropolis prosecutor’s workplace to deal with the case in another way.

“It’s horrible, completely horrible,” Warren councilman Ken MacPherson instructed WJW. “If that is your member of the family, would you need this sort of tragedy to finish with a prosecutorial felony? Come on. That is unsuitable.”

“What occurred was a pure incidence,” councilman Helen Rucker stated. “The one one that may be accountable for that’s the creator, so in case you are not going to cost God, don’t cost her.”
