White House press secretary takes a dig at Rep. Jasmine Crockett after she called out Trump supporters as ‘sick’

After U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, sounded off on supporters of President Donald Trump as affected by “psychological sickness,” White Home press secretary Karoline Leavitt hit again on the congresswoman.

“I feel it’s extremely derogatory to accuse practically 80 million Individuals of psychological sickness,” mentioned Leavitt throughout a White Home press briefing held on Juneteenth.

Whereas talking with journalist Katie Couric on her podcast “Subsequent Query with Katie Couric,” Crockett condemned those that proceed to face by President Donald Trump following a collection of legally questionable actions, together with sending U.S. troops to Los Angeles to quell protests over Trump’s immigration raids.

“He’s persistently breaking legal guidelines, ignoring court docket orders [and] violating the Structure,” mentioned the 44-year-old lawyer turned congresswoman.

Crockett slammed Trump’s determination to deploy 2,000 Nationwide Guard troops and 700 U.S. Marines, with out caring about “how many individuals get harm.”

Crockett’s remarks shortly roiled Trump supporters on-line. When requested about it throughout Thursday’s press briefing from a reporter who famous Crockett is a “rising star” of the Democratic Celebration, Leavitt mentioned, “She is a rising star. Nurses and academics, and center America,” she continued. “That’s who makes up this president’s motion. And Jasmine Crockett ought to go to a Trump rally someday and she will be able to see it for herself.”

Crockett’s workplace didn’t instantly reply to theGrio’s request for remark in response to Leavitt’s remarks.

Hours after Leavitt’s dig at Crockett, she took to social media to sentence Trump for a Reality Social submit through which he appeared to recommend Juneteenth, the federal vacation marking the de facto finish of U.S. enslavement of Black Individuals, is consultant of there being “too many non-working holidays.” He advised it’s “costing our Nation $BILLIONS OF DOLLARS to maintain all of those companies closed” although most companies are open on Juneteenth.

In response to Trump’s assertion, Crockett wrote on X, “Saying there are “too many non-working holidays” on Juneteenth is so on model for a person who’s actively making an attempt to erase Black historical past.”
