Victoria Monét, Babyface & More at BMAC Dinner

*The Black Music Motion Coalition (BMAC) Music Maker Dinner, hosted by legendary producers Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, set the stage for a star-studded night in LA on January 31, 2024.

The occasion, devoted to supporting the financial empowerment of Black music entrepreneurs, artists, producers, and songwriters, introduced collectively trade leaders and celebrated artists in a present of unity and help.

Among the many stars in attendance had been Victoria Monét, Jermaine Dupri, Babyface, Muni Lengthy, Taste Flav, Teedra Moses, Mondaii, Kenny Burns, and different Black music trade energy gamers.

The night commenced with Willie “Prophet” Stiggers, BMAC Co-Founder and CEO, delivering opening remarks that emphasised the significance of paying it ahead and guiding the following era.

“This isn’t a dialog that we’re simply right here to have, nevertheless it’s truly a second that we’d like all of you to hitch us in to make a real motion,” mentioned Prophet.

A spotlight of the occasion was the announcement of the 2024 BMAC x ASCAP x Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis Music Maker Grant winners: Mikaili Ector and Zaire Porter. This annual award offers aspiring Black producers and songwriters with funding, studio time, and mentorship from the Grammy Award-winning duo. It was established in celebration of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis’s induction into the Rock & Roll Corridor of Fame in 2023.

Including to the night’s significance, 10-time Grammy nominee Victoria Monét launched the BMAC x Victoria Monét Music Maker Grant, providing a Black rising music artist $5,000 for financial empowerment, together with mentorship alternatives and profession recommendation.

“While you give, the sensation lasts longer than the reward itself,” mentioned Monét when talking in regards to the significance of giving again to the following era of Black music artists.

The occasion had musical moments as properly, with Babyface, Taste Flav, Tank, and Kenny Burns teaming up for an sudden efficiency of Babyface’s “Whip Attraction.” Tank led a sing-along that includes a catalog of hits by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, and there was a tribute to the legendary producers by 1500 or Nothin’ and buddies. Jermaine Dupri took over the DJ sales space, spinning his main hits and different classics, conserving the group dancing all through the night time.
