Universal Hip Hop Museum Raises Millions at Star Studded Gala

“They by no means thought that hip-hop would take it this far.” The prescient iconic line from Infamous B.I.G.’s 90s hit “Juicy” echoed by the air on the inaugural Common Hip Hop Museum gala final week resonating with an enthusiastic crowd gathered on the illustrious Cipriani in Manhattan. iHeart Radio and EURweb Highlight host Jazmyn Summers was within the constructing to carry you the tea.

The night time aptly named “50 Years of Hip Hop: NYC to the World” raised thousands and thousands of {dollars} together with a  5 million greenback present from Microsoft.

Legendary feminine rapper Yo Yo hosted the occasion giving props to the brand new wave of feminine rappers who’re dominating the music now and sharing her ideas on the journey of hip hop.

Company have been immersed on the earth of hip-hop tradition from the second they stepped in, with meticulously crafted nods to its origins and evolution. The sprawling occasion house featured an in depth mannequin of 1520 Sedgwick Avenue, paying tribute to the birthplace of hip-hop, and a visually charming cocktail reception that projected movies from iconic hip-hop tracks on the partitions. Reveals adorned with hip-hop artifacts, curated from legends like Kool Herc, LL Cool J, and Run DMC, created an aura of reverence

Every desk, topped with rose-adorned centerpieces, showcased symbolic parts resembling basketball hoops, report gamers, and sneakers.

Rocky Bucano, Govt Director of UHHM, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming help garnered by the gala and underscored its significance. “Tonight, we convene not merely as music lovers however as a united group commemorating a tradition that defies boundaries, languages, and backgrounds,” Bucano articulated. The inaugural gala stood as a platform to honor the trailblazers who formed hip-hop’s trajectory and to foster connections that will safeguard its legacy for posterity.

Writer and professor Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, a stalwart advocate of hip-hop tradition advised the group. “Within the face of financial upheavals, city transformations, and societal challenges, who would have foreseen New York rising because the epicenter of a brand new cultural renaissance?” Dyson mused, addressing the transformative energy of hip-hop. He celebrated the intelligence and resilience of the younger individuals who, devoid of formal levels, wielded profound knowledge.

Nestled within the birthplace of hip-hop, the Common Hip Hop Museum, established in 2021, embraced its function as a melting pot the place audiences, artists, and expertise converged to craft immersive academic and leisure experiences. With tentative plans for a gentle opening in late 2024, adopted by a grand opening in spring 2025, the museum aspires to chronicle and protect the wealthy tapestry of native and world hip-hop music and tradition spanning previous, current, and future.  It is going to be the most important museum of its variety on the earth.
