Trump deputy Stephen Miller says DC crackdown is for the ‘safety’ of Black residents. These residents say it’s causing more harm

After being met with indignant protesters at Washington, D.C.’s Union Station amid the Trump administration’s federal regulation enforcement crackdown, White Home Deputy Chief of Employees Stephen Miller dismissed group dissenters and stated the surge of Nationwide Guard troops and federal police brokers was all for the “profit” of D.C.’s Black residents.

“A lot of the residents who stay in Washington, D.C. are Black. This isn’t a metropolis that has had any security for its Black residents for generations,” stated Miller, who leads President Donald Trump‘s home coverage.

The White Home official, who’s the chief architect of Trump’s anti-DEI agenda and launched a conservative regulation agency that sued to finish a number of racial fairness packages, advised reporters on Wednesday alongside Vice President JD Vance and Protection Secretary Pete Hegseth, “President Trump is the one who’s fixing that with the help of the Metropolitan Police Division, the help of the Nationwide Guard, and our federal regulation enforcement officers.”

Gregory Jackson, a public security skilled and former deputy director of the Biden White Home’s Workplace of Gun Violence Prevention, criticized the Trump administration for “demonizing and criminalizing complete Black communities” whereas reducing vital funding for public security and group violence interventions.

Jackson stated Biden-era investments in partnership with native leaders resulted in a big lower in crime in city cities like D.C., Baltimore, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

“The best way that we scale back crime is by investing in folks and holding the trade accountable for placing unlawful weapons into our communities,” Jackson advised theGrio.

The previous Biden official pointed to Trump-appointed U.S. Lawyer of D.C. Jeanine Pirro, who just lately instructed federal prosecutors within the district to not pursue federal fees for these holding rifles and shotguns.

Markus Batchelor, a D.C. native and political director at Folks For the American Approach, stated of Stephen Miller’s remarks on Wednesday, “I’ll take a thousand white hippies standing up for our democracy over one white nationalist attempting to destroy it.”

“Stephen Miller has spent the final decade creating and implementing the Trump administration’s most anti-Black insurance policies,” Batchelor advised theGrio.

“He’s led the hassle to dismantle Black folks’s entry to housing, schooling, jobs, the vote, and equal justice beneath regulation,” he added. “Him pretending to be the savior of Black folks in Washington is each a hilarious contradiction and disgusting propaganda.”
