Tia Mowry isn’t sending her kids into the brand new faculty yr with the strain to be excellent.

As an alternative, the 47-year-old actress and mother of two says her greatest hope is that they embrace challenges with confidence and the liberty to know errors are a part of studying.

“I see the whole lot as a studying lesson,” the “Sister Sister” alum informed theGrio throughout a current sitdown within the midst of back-to-school season.

“There are going to be some challenges through the faculty yr, and my hope is that they tackle these challenges with confidence but in addition with grace, and find out about them in order that they will proceed to construct character and apply these classes as they grow old,” continued “The Sport” star. “If you happen to don’t get a very good grade on a take a look at, don’t let that outline your id. See if there’s a possibility the place you possibly can retake the take a look at. Work exhausting, do your greatest, construct up that braveness and take a look at once more.”

Mowry, who shares her 14-year-old son, Cree, and seven-year-old daughter, Cairo, together with her ex-husband, actor Cory Hardrict, has hardly ever shied away from being candid about her experiences navigating life, motherhood, profession, and past.

When discussing how she balances all of it, the Los Angeles-based mother stated her perspective across the idea of “stability” has shifted within the 14 years since she first turned a mother.

“Stability, that’s such an attention-grabbing phrase to me with regards to being a mum or dad,” Mowry defined. “How I take a look at stability is being practical about it, that each day isn’t going to be excellent, each day isn’t going to be nice. After which what do I do with that? I forgive myself. I do know that I’m doing my greatest, I do know that I’m placing my greatest foot ahead. I do know that I’m being proactive and intentional with regards to my youngsters and nurturing them. But additionally, I’m human. I’m not a machine.”

She believes this mindset is simply as needed for her kids to witness as it’s for her to dwell.

“Kids study via remark,” Mowry stated. “In the event that they see mother making an attempt to be excellent, then they assume that they need to be excellent. Simply me being sincere and transferring with authenticity permits them to see that if issues don’t go as deliberate, I’ll say, ‘That’s okay. We’ll get to it. Issues will work themselves out finally.’”

That forgiving strategy additionally applies to the annual chaos of the back-to-school season. From Cree’s rising independence to Cairo’s budding enthusiasm for chess, Mowry stated she’s embracing the combination of routines and traditions that make the transitional time of yr thrilling.

“Rising up, my mother all the time needed to make faculty a spot of pleasure,” she recalled. “So once you get some new kicks, new garments, once you’re exhibiting as much as faculty, you are feeling assured and also you be ok with your self.”

She added, “That’s one thing I’ve undoubtedly handed down from my era.”

This yr, she’s particularly enthusiastic about her partnership with Normal Mills and Field Tops for Training. This system, which now works via a user-friendly app, permits shoppers to scan receipts for qualifying snacks and ship funds to native faculties. This yr, this system is providing a particular double-digit rebate supply dubbed “Free Snacks.” For Mowry, it’s a sensible strategy to ease back-to-school stress whereas supporting the neighborhood.

“Not solely can you get a rebate again, you can even help your communities,” she gushed, including, “As you’re feeding your kids and making them comfortable, you’re additionally making your neighborhood a greater neighborhood by giving again to colleges in your space … which I feel, for each mum or dad [that], makes them really feel good.”

She added that this system strives to fulfill dad and mom the place they’re.

“They perceive that oldsters aren’t excellent,” she stated. “No matter we are able to do to make issues much less anxious and discover practicality, the higher.”

By way of the place her family is on their back-to-school prep, let’s simply say Mowry is embracing issues with the identical grace she hopes to instill in her youngsters.

“There are nonetheless some I’s we have to dot and T’s we have to cross,” she stated with amusing. “However guess what? That’s okay.”
