This National CROWN Day, Black women are loving their natural hair — and now there’s data to prove it

On July 3, 2019, the primary CROWN Act laws was signed in California to “Create a Respectful and Open World for Pure Hair.” Now, six years later, on Nationwide Crown Day, Black ladies across the nation are celebrating the groundbreaking laws that prohibits discrimination primarily based on hair type and texture. 

A brand new survey from BLK’s #FreeYourCrown marketing campaign exhibits one thing many people have already felt in our souls (and seen in our selfies): the connection between Black ladies and our hair is evolving and thriving. In accordance with the findings, 60.9% of Black ladies say they put on their pure hair on a regular basis, and 79.5% really feel very assured doing so in public, even on a primary date.
