Virginia State College alum Pleasure Watson talks about how a ardour for math and attending an HBCU fueled her profession in a S.T.E.M. discipline.

For our first episode of theGrio’s new video collection, “The Rise: Colour of S.T.E.M.,” theGrio sat down with Pleasure Watson in an inspiring dialogue about her impeccable collegiate profession. Hailing from Newburg, N.Y., slightly below two hours away from New York Metropolis, since childhood, Watson had two passions: dance and numbers.
“Dance is an outlet for me, however I’ve at all times liked numbers,” she says.
Watson’s love of numbers motivated her to pursue a double main in Mechanical Engineering and Arithmetic at Virginia State College. Whilst these round her expressed issues about probably “overloading” herself by biting off greater than she might chew, Watson surpassed all doubts and worries.
