“This choice is in keeping with a troubling sample we’ve got witnessed lately. Republicans have drawn electoral maps that dilute the voices of Black and Brown voters, enacted legal guidelines that make it harder for us to vote, and now search to restrict our financial alternatives. They don’t need us represented on the polls, in positions of affect, or competing for state contracts. Governor Abbott’s message couldn’t be extra specific.”
Consultant Linda Garcia (D–Mesquite): “Texas’s minority- and women-owned companies don’t want further limitations; they want equitable entry and alternative. As an entrepreneur and small enterprise proprietor myself, I perceive the immense effort Texans spend money on constructing enterprises that help their households and strengthen our state’s economic system.
The Comptroller’s choice to dismantle the HUB program removes very important certifications from greater than 15,000 companies and jeopardizes their capacity to compete. This motion is just not solely dangerous—it’s economically short- sighted. Undermining the success of various small companies in the end undermines the general energy and competitiveness of our state.”
