*Republicans in Tennessee are displaying their racist hand as soon as once more after blocking a decision honoring Black Grammy winner Allison Russell however approving one for Paramore. The group, nonetheless, refused the glory.

Tennessee Rep. Justin Jones (D-Nashville) supplied resolutions to honor the 2 Tennessee-based musical acts just lately successful on the Grammy Awards. Paramore received Greatest Rock Album and Greatest Various Music Efficiency, and Russell earned her first Grammy for Greatest American Roots Efficiency for the music “Eve Was Black.”

There was no opposition to the decision to acknowledge Paramore, a white rock again; nonetheless, Home Republican Caucus Chair Jeremy Faison, R-Cosby, killed the decision for Russell, who’s a queer Black girl.

Paramore’s lead singer addressed the controversy, telling The Tennessean, “For people who don’t know, Allison Russell is an extremely proficient musician and songwriter. Her music spans genres with sturdy ties to the Folks/Americana scenes.”

Williams added, “Oh, she can be Black. She’s a superb Black girl.”

Her assertion continued, “The blatant racism of our state management is embarrassing and merciless.”

Within the feedback of Blavity’s report (through Yahoo) about this decision, one individual wrote, “These are the issues that Republicans deal with in 2024. They will’t govern, all they’ll do is play tradition wars, and their aspect of the tradition struggle is at all times enjoying the position of the villain. Good on Paramore for refusing their false honor.”

One other added, “Doesn’t get extra blatant than that. No marvel why Neos(Nazis) had been strolling the streets of Nashville protecting their faces. They’re most likely a part of the Authorities.”

A 3rd reader commented, “Racism is within the DNA of southerners. And with all of the inbreeding over a number of generations, it’s one thing that may’t be modified so simply. Maintain voting for Republicans so we will marry our sister.”
