Speaker denies request for Rev. Jesse Jackson to lie in honor at Capitol, citing precedent

WASHINGTON (AP) — The late Rev. Jesse Jackson is not going to lie in honor in the USA Capitol Rotunda after a request for the commemoration was denied by the Home Speaker Mike Johnson’s workplace because of previous precedent.

Johnson’s workplace mentioned it obtained a request from the household to have Jackson’s stays lie in honor on the Capitol, however the request was denied, due to the precedent that the house is usually reserved for former presidents, the navy and choose officers.
