*Contemporary from their NAACP Picture Award Nomination for the anthemic single “Time For Reparations,” The 3X Grammy Award-Profitable Sounds of Blackness is again with an pressing new social justice anthem for right this moment – “WOKE!”

Up to date society and media have appropriated the time period “Woke” and weaponized it for divisive and meaningless tradition wars. “Woke” shouldn’t be a contest, it’s a manner of being.

Traditionally, the time period “Woke” is an African-American phrase to alert others to the ever-prevalent methods of racism and poverty established centuries in the past by colonizers. These methods that favor one group of individuals over one other are woven into our political, spiritual, and schooling methods to this very day. Many don’t notice that these methods are even there or the place their true origins come from..

“WOKE” is a robust life-changing name to consciousness. “WOKE” is a message to remain alert and perceive deeply the historical past of methods of hate throughout the globe. “WOKE” is a requirement for a life that is freed from methods of oppression!

“WOKE” options the soul-charged vocals of the Sounds of Blackness’ very personal Quan Howell whereas weaving collectively a tapestry of social justice themes and iconic protest music references.

“WOKE” was written and produced by Sounds of Blackness Music Director Gary Hines and recorded at Atomic Okay Studios and RiverRock Studios in Minneapolis.
