Billie Eilish, Finneas, Ludwig Göransson and Nicholas Britell have been among the many winners Tuesday night on the fifth annual Society of Composers & Lyricists Awards.
Eilish and Finneas took house the award for excellent unique track for a comedy or musical for “What Was I Made For?” from “Barbie.” The win continued their sweep of the season from the Golden Globes and the Grammy Awards.
Olivia Rodrigo and Dan Nigro gained excellent unique track for a drama or documentary for “Can’t Catch Me Now” from “Starvation Video games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.” Britell took house the prize for excellent unique rating for a tv manufacturing for “Succession.”
Göransson, who was honored with Selection’s Artisans Award in Santa Barbara this previous weekend, gained excellent unique rating for a studio movie for “Oppenheimer.” John Powell gained excellent unique rating for an unbiased movie, “Nonetheless: A Michael J. Fox Film,” and Stephen Barton and Gordy Haab acquired the award for excellent unique rating for interactive media for his or her music in “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.”
Carlos Rafael Rivera, composer of “Classes in Chemistry,” gained for excellent unique title sequence for a tv manufacturing, and Catherine Pleasure, composer of “Dwelling Is a Lodge,” acquired the David Raksin award for rising expertise.
Director Martin Scorsese was honored with the 2024 Spirit of Collaboration Award for his work with the late composer Robbie Robertson. Scorsese despatched a video acknowledging the respect, and Robertson’s daughter Alexandra gave a tear-filled speech tributing her dad.
Grammy-winning singer and songwriter Jason Isbell carried out the track “Between Trains” in honor of Scorsese and Robertson. “Between Trains” was initially written by Robertson for “The King of Comedy.”
The awards acknowledge unique scores and songs in visible media throughout seven classes. Most of the nominees attended the banquet, a mirrored image of the rising significance of the SCL Awards within the music group. Siedah Garrett hosted on the Skirball Middle in Los Angeles.
