Communities throughout the nation proceed to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy in various and significant methods.
From volunteer service tasks and academic applications to faith-based gatherings and coverage advocacy, Black Individuals replicate on his legacy and spotlight the methods by which individuals are carrying ahead his imaginative and prescient.
A key side of King’s message was making certain fairness for all Individuals. That work continues by way of leaders like Kaci Patterson, founder and chief architect of Social Good Options, a Black woman-owned agency in Los Angeles that helps Black-led nonprofits by way of equity-centered grantmaking and community-driven design.

“Honoring King means preserving the legacy by way of motion,” stated Patterson. “Dr. King taught that true justice requires structural change, and that’s the core of our work at Social Good Options (SGS). We’ve raised greater than $70 million for social justice initiatives throughout California, driving $335 million in financial affect and supporting 1000’s of jobs.”
Patterson emphasised that the work of Black-led nonprofits, like those supported by SGS, replicate King’s imaginative and prescient every day by constructing techniques of group care, growing grassroots management and advocating for structural alternatives that strengthen complete communities.
