‘Sistas Doin’ it for Themselves’ Film Fest this Weekend

*The Black Hollywood Training and Useful resource Heart’s (BHERC) Opening Evening Celebration of the thirtieth annual, “Sista’s Are Doin’ It For Themselves Quick Movie Showcase” is Friday, Could Nineteenth, 2023.

This milestone has been lengthy within the making, and thru the help of so many members and others, BHERC is blessed to see it come to fruition.

A particular thanks, and nice appreciation goes out to Ralph Scott who planted the seed for this program and served as BHERC’s first director and to John Forbes, BHERC’s present director, who has offered a lot to maintain this nice legacy going.

The Opening Evening celebration can be held on the Director’s Guild of America,7920 Sundown Blvd., Los Angeles, CA.  This yr, as all the time, an array of outstanding people will be a part of the celebration. Wendy Raquel Robinson, will preserve the night shifting as host. The incomparable director, Debbie Allen, will function our visitor speaker; together with celebrated administrators: Neema Barnette, Dianne Houston, and Numa Perrier, who’re becoming a member of the occasion as presenters and panelists.

Over 1,062 submissions had been obtained for the “Sista’s” pageant this yr and of these, the easiest 45 movies had been chosen. 23 of these can be proven all through the weekend for the in-person pageant and showcase, Could Nineteenth-Twenty first.
